2020 Mosquito Hill Chardonnay, Southern Fleurieu

$29.00

Celebrating Chardonnay Day with our first wine from South Australia’s Southern Fleurieu region turned out to be an absolute winner. The 2020 Chardonnay from Mosquito Hill delivered impressive balance, texture and flavour well beyond its price point. Layers of ripe stone fruit, nougat, marzipan and a subtle kiss of oak created a rich yet elegant drinking experience that kept us going back for another sip. There’s freshness, complexity and genuine cool-climate character in every glass. At just $29, this feels like one of the best-value Australian Chardonnays we’ve tried recently. A seriously impressive drop that proves great Chardonnay doesn’t need to come with a premium price tag.

2020 Mosquito Hill Chardonnay Tasting Notes

Produced from the dry-grown Magpies Song vineyard on the Fleurieu Peninsula and fermented in French oak hogsheads with around 20% new oak. A small portion of Pinot Blanc was co-fermented with the Chardonnay to add texture and complexity. Official tasting notes describe the wine as powerful and complex, showing bright acidity, minerality, white peach and nectarine flavours with impressive length and balance. The winery notes the wine is drinking beautifully now while also having excellent ageing potential in bottle. – Mosquito Hill Wines
