The Wined Up Review – Fiano will take over Aussie white wines
The 2024 Fi Fi Fiano from S.C. Pannell (McLaren Vale, SA) is an aromatic and refreshing white wine, praised for its balance and complexity. Fiano, originally from Southern Italy (Campania and Sicily), thrives in warm climates, producing wines well-suited for hot weather.
This particular Fiano has a floral and tropical fruit-driven nose, with notes of guava, green papaya, and white flowers. On the palate, it offers bright acidity, a rounded texture, and a ripe fruit character, making it a fantastic alternative to Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. Unlike New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, which can have overpowering grassy notes, this Fiano leans more toward tropical and citrus elements, with a hint of lemongrass.
Described as an ideal summer wine, it is both refreshing and full-bodied, with a textural richness. The Wined Up Podcast gives it a solid 8/10, highlighting its drinkability and quality.

Prior to starting The Wined Up Podcast, the boys had never heard of Fiano. However after trying this 2024 S.C. Pannell Fiano they wished they’d tried it earlier.

Such a rarity in our part of the world; a white wine from a warm region that’s worth drinking. Serve with Fiona’s favourite summer dish, Blue Swimmer Crab Linguine, or try alongside the freekeh, feta and pomegranate salad in Rumi by Joseph Aboud
