Indomie Mi Goreng Wine Pairing
Indomie Mi Goreng is Jason’s favourite instant noodles. For anyone that is not familiar with it, this is a dry noodle as opposed to the instant noodles with a soup base. You boil the noodles as normal, but instead of getting the flavour from a soup, its all from the sauce packets. The sauce has sweet soy sauce, a bit of chilli, and some olive oil. My favourite thing is the fried onions which you use as a topping to add a bit of the crunch, and additional flavour from the powdered seasoning package (which probably has some MSG and powdered chicken stock). The variety of flavours – sweet chilli, oily, salty are a perfect hangover cure! Jason typically has it with a fried egg and fried SPAM. YUM! With the runny yolk Trent calls it the Asian Carbonara!
Mi Goreng paired with Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut Champagne
This pairing is an 8 out of 10 corkscrew rating! The acidity and small bubbles cleanse the palate against the oily and salty flavours from the Mi Goreng, spam, and egg. The fruit and brioche like flavours helps balance out the flavours. This is a win.
Mi Goreng paired with Mommessin Saint-Amour Beaujolais
In contrast, the Beaujolais did not work – 5 out of 10 corkscrew rating for the pairing. The tannins and fruitiness fights with the complex flavours from the Mi Goreng. Don’t need to give this pairing a try.
