The Wined Up Review – $35 Sauvignon Blanc Wine of the Year (Halliday 2025)

We can understand why the Halliday team gave this Sauvignon Blanc Wine of the Year for 2025.  Pale straw in colour with a bit of volume.  Scent of chalk, grapefruit, white flowers, white peaches, dried mango, and passionfruit.  Medium body with flavours of stone fruit, talc dust, guava, grapefruit, dried mango, with mineralogy.  High acid that just keeps going and going.  The flavour is persistent and lingering of dried mango, grapefruit, minerality, and guava.  This is a complex wine and is a bargain at only $35.

Terre a Terre Philosophy

From the beginning the vision for Terre à Terre and DAOSA has been to grow grapes of exceptional quality from our carefully selected vineyard sites every year, and then vinify them using the best of French and Australian wine practices.

We believe that with rigour and precision, we can produce world class fine wines which will have great aging potential, combining elegance and power. We like to retain our independence from the common wine trends and focus on creating a Great Australian Classic.

We created our Terre à Terre and DAOSA labels in 2008, but the heritage goes further back in time. We both grew up surrounded by passionate winemaking families, Xavier in Champagne, France and Lucy in the Adelaide Hills. (https://terreaterre.com.au/)

Terre a Terre Crayeres Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc – Tasting Notes

This is the fifteenth release of our Sauvignon Blanc from our close-spaced Crayères Vineyard. This vintage, the wine was fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in larger old oak barrels. The 2023 vintage is a very sharp example of Sauvignon Blanc, with stone fruit and citrus characters and great persistence of flavours. It will benefit from bottle ageing, gaining some complexity with age. (https://terreaterre.com.au/)
