2023 Lagarde Malbec Organic, Mendoza, Argentina

$42.50

A benchmark organic Malbec from one of Mendoza’s most historic producers, this 2023 release from Bodega Lagarde leans into purity, balance and drinkability.

Founded in 1897 and based in Luján de Cuyo, Lagarde is a family-run estate known for its old-vine Malbec — including parcels planted as far back as 1906 with a strong commitment to sustainable, organic farming practices.

In the glass, it delivers lifted red and dark fruit with subtle floral notes, supported by soft, polished tannins and a fresh, balanced finish.

This was one of the standout pours at the Chiswick International Women’s Day Wine Market, not because it tried to be the biggest wine in the room, but because it was one of the most complete. Clean, expressive and effortlessly drinkable, it struck that balance between structure and approachability that struct an impression on me.

A natural fit for grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes or a long lunch with friends.

You can find at Artisan Malbec.

About Bodega Lagarde

Bodega Lagarde is old-school Mendoza with a fresh edge. Family-owned, quietly consistent, and all about letting the fruit do the talking. Think polished Malbec, subtle oak and plenty of drinkability. It’s the kind of producer that flies under the radar, but always delivers when it’s in the glass.

Lagarde Malbec Organic – Tasting Notes

Grapes come from a vineyard in Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo, planted in 1906. The winery began the organic certification process in 2015. This is a 100% Malbec, intense dark red with violet hues, aromas of red fruit with floral and fresh notes, balanced with good body and soft tannins. Ideal with grilled meats, stews, chicken with heavy sauces, and hams and cheeses.
