Pizzini Wines
Description
The King Valley is home to Pizzini Wines and Italian varieties in Australia. Pizzini craft wines that are food friendly, lighter in style, savoury and elegant. The family have spent over 30 years making Italian wine varieties, initially planting Nebbiolo and Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio, Arneis, Verduzzo, Brachetto and Prosecco quickly followed.
The multitude of microclimates across the family’s vineyard sites enables such a wide variety of Italian varietals to flourish. The warmer hillsides provide perfect conditions for Sangiovese, while the cooler sites on the valley floor grow early ripening whites with crisp acidity and elegant fruit flavours.
Joel Pizzini is the family’s winemaker. Joel has engaged Alberto Antonini for over 20 years, Alberto is a renowned Italian winemaking consultant who advises in the blending of the Sangiovese and Nebbiolo wines. Alongside Alberto, Joel has engaged world renowned soil scientist Pedro Para to help improve vineyard health through improved soil management. All with the goal to one day make the best examples of Italian varieties in Australia.
Pizzini Wine’s cellar door is open seven days, cooking school and accommodation bookings can be made via www.pizzini.com.au
